East Cobb Second Floor Remodel

This extensive remodel in East Cobb took a traditional layout and created a modern family-forward floorplan, maximizing functionality and showstopping beauty in a previously dark, cramped space.

This project included a complete remodel of the primary suite and adjoining bedroom, relocating the laundry to the second floor, and building a new walk-in pantry and coffee bar on the main floor, resulting in a home that feels like it was built for life in this century.

Traditional floorplans often fall short in the spaces that matter most: bathrooms, closets, and the everyday routines they support. These homeowners were ready to move on from a dark, cramped primary suite that felt more like a college dorm than a true retreat. The bedroom itself was barely wide enough to accommodate their bed, while an adjoining room served little purpose beyond housing a Peloton. Elsewhere on the second floor, the bonus room lacked both storage and a dedicated study area for their son, and the laundry room sat inconveniently on the main level, a full flight of stairs away.

Together, we reimagined the entire second floor to create a primary suite worthy of its name, a functional laundry room conveniently located off the primary suite, and a kid-friendly bonus space designed for both storage and study. The result is a thoughtful new layout with spacious rooms that complement the home’s traditional character while introducing a fresh, modern sensibility.

We reconfigured the entire second-floor layout to create an expansive primary suite complete with a spa-like bath and enviable closet space. His-and-hers walk-in closets frame the generous primary bedroom, while a newly added laundry room connects one of the closets to the upstairs hallway, thoughtfully leveraging existing wet bar plumbing below for a seamless solution.

The hall bathroom was transformed into a playful yet timeless retreat for a young boy, featuring bold accent lighting and a contrasting black-and-white tub surround tile that strikes a balance between classic and masculine. The bonus room was reimagined as a functional study zone, outfitted with a custom-built workstation and integrated storage. On the main level, the former laundry room found new life as a refined walk-in pantry and coffee bar.

The result is a home that finally functions the way it was always meant to: effortless, intentional, and beautifully lived in.
