This classic remodel transformed an easily overlooked property into one of the neighborhood’s most striking homes. Timeless architectural details and carefully selected materials enhance the home’s soft grandeur, creating a design that feels both elevated and enduring.
The project included a full renovation of the main floor, featuring an open-concept kitchen and living area, a gracious entryway, and an expanded, luxurious primary suite. A quintessential Southern covered front porch anchors the home, while exterior enhancements—including new dormers, a freestanding garage, a screened-in porch, and an outdoor patio—ensure every inch of the property was thoughtfully designed to welcome and gather.
The Vision
When this retired couple began searching for their forever home in a neighborhood they already knew and loved, they understood it would take vision to truly make it their own. Their search led them to a stately ranch in Hampton Farms, once owned by former U.S. Senator Johnny Isakson.
While the home possessed the strong bones of a future estate, it was ready for a thoughtful transformation. GreatHouse reimagined the property as it was always meant to be—anchored by a welcoming front porch and gracious entry, with a fully reworked interior to match.
The goal was to create a home that felt open and grand, yet warm and inviting, capturing the timeless comfort and quiet elegance of traditional Southern living.
Design & Craft
The interior was completely reimagined to create a seamless connection between the kitchen, family room, and backyard, allowing the home to live as beautifully as it entertains. The new kitchen features vaulted ceilings with striking beams that feel both grand and grounded, anchoring the heart of the home.
Just off the kitchen, a cozy family room opens to a tranquil screened porch with vaulted tongue-and-groove ceilings, leading out to a blue slate patio that wraps around to the covered front porch—blurring the line between indoor and outdoor living.
The primary suite was thoughtfully reconfigured to include a luxurious bathroom, highlighted by a dramatic picture window and herringbone tile floors. Throughout the home, detailed millwork paired with elevated lighting and carefully chosen finishes reinforces the home’s timeless elegance.
