In smaller spaces, we love opening the ceilings with vaults, exposed beams, and skylights to make the room feel extra large and inviting. If it’s a gathering space like a family room, adding some custom built in shelving and cabinetry is a great way to anchor the room and display precious family heirlooms and photos to guests.
Mudrooms are also all the rage today, and for good reason. There’s something so logical about having a designated dropping ground that connects the garage / back entrance of your home to your communal living spaces. We love using tile flooring and custom-built cabinets with bench seating and under cabinet storage to hide all the mud, dirty shoes, and coats. We also like to have fun in these rooms that are less visible to the main living area with fun cabinetry colors, wallpaper, and butcherblock material that makes the space feel intentional and elevates the room from a production center to a place to pause and enjoy.
