Step-by-Step Process Overview

1. Exploration

1–2 weeks

The Exploration phase is where your project begins to take shape. We start by listening carefully to understand how you live, what is not working in your current home, and what you hope to achieve through remodeling. Together, we define the scope of your project, discuss priorities, and align on a target timeline and investment range that makes sense for your goals. This phase allows us to confirm that GreatHouse is the right fit for your project before moving forward. Once expectations are aligned, we finalize the Schematic Design Agreement and schedule your project kickoff. Our goal during Exploration is clarity, trust, and a shared understanding of what success looks like.

2. Preconstruction

2–4 months

Preconstruction is the most important phase of a successful remodel, and it is where thoughtful planning pays off. During Phase 1, Schematic Design, we hold a kickoff meeting at your home to review the space in detail and present an initial design concept. This includes preliminary floor plans, 3D renderings, and an early cost estimate to ensure the design aligns with your investment level. In Phase 2, Design Development, we refine every detail. Finishes, fixtures, cabinetry, and materials are carefully selected, and construction-ready drawings are created. We also host a trade walk with our trusted partners to finalize scope and pricing, resulting in a clear, accurate contract before construction begins.

3. Project Prep

3-6 weeks

Once design and pricing are finalized, we move into Project Prep. During this phase, our team pulls all required permits and schedules both our internal crew and specialized trade partners. We also coordinate material orders and confirm delivery timelines to avoid delays once construction begins. You will receive clear communication about what to expect, including how to prepare your home for the upcoming work. This phase ensures everything is organized, approved, and ready before demolition starts. Proper preparation allows construction to move forward smoothly and efficiently.

4. Construction

2-6  months

Construction is where your vision becomes reality. Our experienced team manages every aspect of the build, from demolition through final installation, so you do not have to coordinate multiple contractors. You will receive regular updates from our team and have access to your project information through our communication system. We maintain clean, organized job sites and encourage ongoing feedback throughout the process. If questions or adjustments arise, they are addressed quickly and transparently. Our goal during construction is to deliver high-quality craftsmanship while keeping you informed and confident every step of the way.

5. Construction

3-6 weeks

As construction comes to an end, we shift our focus to the final details that complete your project. We walk the space together, address any remaining punch list items, and ensure everything meets GreatHouse standards. A professional move-in cleaning is completed so your home is ready to enjoy immediately. You will receive all completed project records, including warranties and important documentation. Our relationship does not end at completion. We stand behind our work and remain available to support you long after your project is finished.
